Black Curtain
I was walking in the dark behind a black curtain that hung from the ceiling. The only thing that guided me was the sound of the with spanish? help?, tap shoes from the girl in front of me. Nine months before the big performance was the first day of practice at the new dance academy I was attending. I was scared out of my mind and I could feel that I was scared because of the nerves inside my stomach. Once the dancing started and everyone started to meet people the practices went by smoother and faster. I became good friends with Gentra and Kelli. These two girls were my sidekicks; they protected me and laughed with me. Us three were best friends. Over the course of dancing you would hear about all the horror stories about dancers. I heard about girls who were anorexic, bulimic, did drugs, and overdosed on fitness pills. Sometimes before practiced started

Throughout my life I have dealt with the problem of racism. With Can You Help?! Since I was a little boy I can remember how much more I was being watched than my white friends when we would go into stores. As a little boy I did not understand this, but as I grew I understood this and learned to hate it. While hating others for treating me like that, I was becoming no better. I did not care; the only thing that mattered to me was hating them as much as they hated me because of my color. If you thought that my being biracial was the lesser of two evils in the struggle of racism, you would be wrong yet again. I have had to schooling deal with both sides of racism. From the white perspective I have dealt with blacks calling me a white boy because of my light skin complexion. From the flip side I have been called a nigger and been looked upon as if I were less than a human being. In sports as an athlete you get praised by both sides , no matter if you are black or white, if you can play then u just can play . In the event that I would mess up, what would they say? I knew that nigger was no good; again racism's head rises to the surface.
Hate crimes, rape, murder, and suicide have all taken place because of this problem in society. People have gotten so into the "spirit ? of racism that they can't go about their daily lives without possibly thinking of racism. Racism plays a role in everything that we do. If I was to get stopped by the police and then a white boy of the same age gets stopped I would get searched and he would go home with a warning. How is that fair? Well when it comes to racism nothing is fair; there are no rules, and it is played out who is spanish? can you please until the bitter end.
